Description

The University of Florida Genetics and Cancer Research Center was a multi-disciplinary biomedical research facility. The Center was created to house four programs: the UF Shands Cancer Center; The UF Genetics Institute; The Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research and the C.A. Pound Human Identification Laboratory, one of the nation’s premier forensic anthropology facilities.

This 354,000 square foot center included a vivarium, 200,000 square feet of research laboratories, and administrative, training and support space.

The Biotechnology Laboratory Pavilion included 30,000 square feet of research space, with core laboratory facilities for use by cancer and genetics research groups, as well as agriculture, medicine and environmental management researchers. The facility also includes a complete Central Utility Plant engineered for future expansion in this area of the campus.
